SR32 Westbound Traffic Disruption Beginning June 3
The City of Westfield would like to inform residents and commuters about an upcoming road closure that will impact travel along State Road 32 (SR32). Citizens Energy Group will be undertaking significant infrastructure work to upsize and relocate a water main between Union Street and Gurley Street.
Road Closure Details
The closure will affect westbound traffic on SR32, starting June 3. Eastbound traffic will remain open, allowing some continuity of flow for local residents and businesses. The construction is scheduled to begin shortly and is anticipated to last for approximately four months. This extended period is necessary to complete the work safely and efficiently.
Detour Information
To minimize disruption and ensure the safety of all road users, a comprehensive detour plan has been established. Westbound drivers are advised to follow the designated detour routes:
From SR32, take a right onto Grassy Branch Road.
Continue on Grassy Branch Road and take a left onto 191st Street.
Proceed on 191st Street and then head south on US31 to return to SR32.
Impact on Local Traffic
While we understand that road closures can be inconvenient, this project is critical for maintaining and improving our city's infrastructure. We encourage drivers to plan their routes accordingly and allow extra travel time. Residents with properties directly affected by the closure will still have access to their homes, although minor delays may be experienced during peak construction activities.
Signage will be placed at key points along the detour route to guide motorists. Additionally, traffic control personnel will be stationed at critical intersections to assist with traffic flow and provide directions as needed.
